Boca Raton, FL – July 28, 2020 -- Basic Fun!, the Florida-based toy and novelties company who makes several beloved classics including Pound Puppies, announced today that they are collaborating with homeless pet advocates, Adopt-a-Pet.com, and Grammy Award winning musicians, the Baha Men, to celebrate pet adoption on National Mutt Day, July 31. The companies are encouraging pet lovers to create and post videos on TikTok and IGTV of themselves dancing with their Pound Puppies and real pups to the Baha Men’s legendary earworm, "Who Let the Dogs Out", which is marking its 20th Anniversary this July.  Leading the social media dance party will be TikTok star Katie Feeney, along with her two adopted pups.

"We're thrilled to team up with the Baha Men and Adopt-a-Pet.com to spread awareness about pet adoption,” said Ashley Mady, Head of Brand Development at Basic Fun! “The Pound Puppies have always represented lovable pups hoping to be rescued from the ‘pound’ and brought home to a new family. The world is filled with real ‘Pound Puppies’ who are looking for their forever homes. Celebrating National Mutt Day every year is an impactful way we can help raise awareness about this important cause.”

“Partnering with Adopt-a-Pet and Basic Fun is the perfect collaboration for us,” said Isaiah Taylor, Baha Men band leader. “As a band we focus on being positive, making a difference through music that is fun, something that all ages can enjoy. There is nothing more positive than being able to find homes for the thousands of real ‘Pound Puppies’ around the country, bringing happiness and joy to countless families.  It is a win all the way around!”

“Joining forces with the Pound Puppies and the Baha Men to promote pet adoption is a natural and synergistic fit,” said Dana Puglisi, Chief Marketing Officer of Adopt-a-Pet.com. "We're excited to collaborate for National Mutt Day and celebrate the joyful feeling you get when you 'let the dogs out' of shelters and rescues, and into loving forever homes."

In addition to connecting homeless animals with families looking to adopt a new pet with their adoptable pet search engine, Adopt-a-Pet.com has introduced Rehome by Adopt-a-Pet.com – the groundbreaking and innovative peer-to-peer pet adoption platform that allows pet owners who can no longer care for their beloved pets to post them for adoption on Adopt-a-Pet.com to be seen by millions of pet seekers. Rehome not only provides the pet owner with free advertising of their pet, but it also provides access to useful tools to assist in the adoption process including guided step-by-step help from the pet adoption experts at Adopt-a-Pet.com and a thorough adoption application with tools tips for properly screening potential adopters. It’s also totally free for pet owners! The new adopter will pay a small adoption fee that is then donated back into animal welfare. To date, Rehome has had more than 300K pets onboarded and the program has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for shelters and rescues across the country. Rehome is the safe, reliable, and free way to find a great new home for a pet!
